Golf safari in the Cape

South Africa is a beautiful country with mountains, rocky coasts and a huge diversity of flowers and plants. It is great to strike a ball on one of its many golf courses, but even more amazing is playing among the famous Big Five.

Facing the lion

If you like a sporty start to your adventure, start by playing golf at the Pearl Valley Golf Estate, situated between Paarl and Franschhoek. From amateurs to professionals, golf enthusiasts stand in line to play at the sensational course designed by golfer and golf architect Jack Nicklaus. The lush green fairways contrast beautifully with the white river sand that surrounds the 81 bunkers, and the 13th hole is situated on the edge of a stunning lake. What’s more, as the course is located in the midst of the wine country, you can celebrate the end of your game with a delicious local vintage. The next destination is the Aquila Wildlife Reserve in Klein Karoo. This 4,500-hectare wilderness can be explored by jeep or quad bike. With a little luck you’ll come face-to-face with one of the Big Five or with other animals such as the lynx, fox or giraffe. The safari also includes some culture as you pass the spectacular Khoi San rock paintings from 10,000 years ago. The luxury chalets at the reservation are fully equipped to ensure you regain your strength for the next match play. The journey continues to St. Francis Bay in East Cape. The St. Francis Links is challenging even for the most experienced golfers. Jack Nicklaus designed it so that the holes are concealed behind the fynbos covered dunes. Combined with the hefty breeze, it demands the most of the players’ skills. Nearby is the famous Addo Elephant National Park, where you can spot hundreds of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, lions and hyenas.

Adventure in Bushman Sands

The Bushman Sands Game Reserve & Golf Course is a relaxing conclusion to your golf safari. Start with an exciting jeep ride through the reservation before heading to the spectacularly situated course of Bushman Sands, accessible to players of all levels. Some holes are unparalleled: players must hit their balls over train tracks and 2 rivers!
